The Grill Out - Kenny Porter (Pif Magazine).

Having a story published on the first day of 2017 feels great. I'm hoping to use this momentum to get more things published this year and to have more people read my work.

Please feel free to share the story and to comment on the Pif Magazine page as well to let them know if you enjoyed it. The more people who share the story, the more it will help!

Here's a sample image and preview:

Big thanks to my friend and editor Nikki for helping me edit and shape the story. I also have to thank my friends and family who read the piece and gave me critiques. And of course, thank you to the fine people at Pif Magazine for publishing my story.

Thanks for reading!

The Grill Out - Picked up for publicaiton

Short Story News

My short story "The Grill Out" has been picked up for publication by an online magazine. "The Grill Out" was inspired by those people in your office that want to be everyone's friend, even if it isn't the best idea.

I wrote this story under the influence of a lot of Douglas Adams and Kurt Vonnegut stories. I feel like that comes off in the writing quite a bit. I've always enjoyed stories about ordinary people in extraordinary social situations, so I hope everyone that reads the story takes the same humor and outlook away from "The Grill Out."

Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for more news about the publication!

Grindhouse Clubhouse Episode #5 - Stray Cat Rock: Sex Hunter

Stray Cat Rock: Sex Hunter

Make sure to check out the latest episode of Grindhouse Clubhouse!

Here's a description of the episode.

"Japanese girl gang? Check. Flashlight knife fight? Check. Race wars? Check. Molotov cocktail sex party? Check. Good movie? Eh, we'll see. This week we were joined by our good friend Daniel Lane to watch Stray Cat Rock: Sex Hunter (1970)."

New Writing Stats

I just received new stats about how my writing improved Create and Craft as a company over the past year. I'm happy to see all my hard work paid off!

I spent at least one lunch break a week researching ways to improve our SEO on the blog and how to appeal to our audience with our copy and content.

Here are the results.

Copywriting, Social Media, and Blog Data

• Blog sessions were up 123% over last year
• Page value increased 11% for the blog homepage (transactions attributed to that pageview divided by number of sessions)
• Facebook referral sessions up 80%
• Facebook referral revenue up 103%
• Pinterest referral sessions up 223%
• Pinterest referral revenue up 409%
• Twitter referral revenue up 22%

This is definitely something to celebrate!

All of this was accomplished by simply finding free articles and eBooks that dealt with copywriting and blogging and applying those practices to my daily tasks. It doesn't sound like much, but it adds up over time and really makes a difference.

Future Brothers Episode #26 - Drifters

Episode #26 - Drifters

Wow... this one was interesting, to say the least. If there's one thing Aaron and I have realized about modern anime, a lot of it is not for us. This series is practically an offering to the almighty Edge Lord. I can see why some folks would dig it, but it was just too hard for us to get into.

Evil Joan of Ark with fucking fire powers, man.

Hello Internet!

Here's the Mobile Suit Gundam: Movie I podcast episode of the Future Brothers Podcast!

The Future Brothers Podcast features hosts Kenny Porter and Aaron Delgaty as they watch science fiction anime and discuss it on the show. It's less of a review show and more of a critical examination of popular series, seeing if they hold up over time.

We're both huge Mobile Suit Gundam fans, so it was exciting to go back and examine the original Universal Century series of the Gundam franchise. Zeon and the Federation are about to clash, and we're along for the ride!
